In 2001, Taricaya Ecological Reserve, is born and starts, with the help of professional biologists, natural experts and volunteers from around the world, the different research projects for conservation. It is not until 2008 that Taricaya, as an eco-touristic concession, decides to open its doors for local and foreign tourists to visit the rainforest in the Reserve and the different projects developed there.
The concept of ecotourism as an economic alternative for conservation had been in the back of the mind of Taricaya´s owner for a long time. A couple of biologists, a veterinarian and an ex volunteer, were helping out in the different projects in the Reserve at the time. They all had something in common: their passion for the rainforest and their commitment to preserve it.
It is with these concepts that they all get together to buy 45 ha of land next to Taricaya Ecological Reserve and Amazon Planet was born.
Amazon Planet Lodge for Tourism and Conservation opens its doors for the first time in 2010, for tourists to come, explore and visit the Reserve for the day. Little by little the first bungalows were built. In 2012, we officially opened as a Lodge and now tourists from all around the world and Peru come to stay and enjoy the different programs we offer.
