Lunch will be expecting you at the dining room in the Main house.
Take a short rest before meeting with your guide for an introduction talk about us, followed by an introduction walk around the lodge into the rainforest, winding past giant Kapok trees, walking, palms and strangler figs while being dazzled by the sounds of nature in search for wildlife.
Return to your bungalow for a rest. Before dinner, take a walk with your guide and experience the jungle as it transforms from day into night making way for nocturnal animals especially adapted for the dark.
Return with your guide for your first dinner in the rainforest and enjoy a typical meal from this region.

After dinner you may return to your bungalow or meet with the other guests or the volunteers from Taricaya, enjoy cool drinks at the bar and share stories and experiences.

Day 02

Breakfast is serverd at 7:00am. After breakfast, begin your adventure walking through the trails surrounded by 300 year old trees while we identify the flora and fauna by sight and sound. We will arrive at our first platforms located 15 and 25 meters high above on top of the branches of an old fig tree accessed by a suspension bridge while we explore the amazing structure of this tree and the wildlife that live in and around it. Continue your walk into the Taricaya Reserve towards the Canopy platform, the highest tree platform in the Amazon rainforest. Located 45 meters high up in the crown of an ancient Kapok tree and connected by a 90-meter long suspension bridge. Catch a glimpse of flying Macaws, parrots or Toucans; the views from this platform are truly unforgettable!

Continue into the reserve until we reach the Taricaya Rescue Center where you will encounter many different wild animals including a jaguar, pumas, macaws, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, jaguarundi, bush dog, tapir, turtles and more. These animals are in the process of rehabilitation before being released back into the wild. Stop off at the Butterfly house before returning to the lodge for lunch.
Take a rest after lunch before venturing off on the 30min walk to the Agroforestry farm and visit the reforestation project of mahogany, cedar, cocoa, coffee and tropical flowers. Visit the artificial beaches of the Taricaya turtle project (between July, August and September you will see the flags pointing out the turtle nests in the sand, relocated to be kept safe from poacher).
Walk back along the trails and stop in the Mahogany workshop to learn about the work done with the wood from the farm and how it can be an excellent economic alternative for local families.
Arrive to the Lodge for rest before we finish the day’s activities with a caiman search along the river´s edge in the motorboat under the moonlight. We will search for white caiman, black caiman and spectacle caiman with a flashlight as they lay along the river banks at night. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest or enjoy our delicious and classic Pisco Sour and more at the bar.

Day 03

Have your breakfast before traveling by motorboat upriver for 10 minutes to visit a native family of the Ese-Eja tribe. Listen to their own language; learn about their ancestral customs while you make your own bow and arrow using natural materials from the rainforest following the direction of Enrique, the chief of the family.
Have a personal experience as the chief and his family introduces you into their culture showing you how their tribe lived in direct relationship with nature (Enrique´s grandfather and many natives were forced out of the rainforest by missionaries to become part of the modern society).

Finally, you can have one on one talk with them as the women of the family display their handcrafts and native jewelry for sale, an important economic activity women maintain until now. Return to the Lodge for lunch and rest.

Enjoy a relaxing late afternoon activity as you float the Madre de Dios River in your own inflatable boat with the opportunity to see turtles, monkeys, herons and other birds that are along the river side with a beautiful backdrop of the sunset over the river (between July and September you can stop at the beach and enjoy a refreshing swim in the river.
Watch some very interesting videos and documentaries about Amazon Planet, the Taricaya Ecological Reserve, the different projects and much more as dinner is served. Then rest or enjoy a board game, the pool table and drinks at the bar.
